                                        LETS TALK ‘STRESS’

Stress can make us sick short term and also affect all of our organs long term. Have you ever felt nervous about a life situation and suddenly your stomach hurts or you feel tightness in your chest?

That’s because a chemical reaction is taking place inside our incredible bodies. When we are stressed our brain releases a slew of chemical messages to our organs such as adrenalin which causes our heart to beat faster. If we are constantly in a fight or flight mode it’s likely we could develop hypertension which could lead to heart attack or stroke. The cortisol levels rise and clouds our thinking.

There’s also a brain gut connection (Butterflies in the pit of our stomach). This brain gut connection due to stress can cause irritable bowel disorder, heart burn, ulcers and immunity problems due to the fact that our gut plays a big role in our immunity system. The constant ‘stress mode’ can also damage our organs and cells as well as our adrenal glands. What’s another negative side effect of stress? Over eating; our bodies crave comfort foods when we are feeling stressed and emotional.

Obviously there is no way to eliminate all stress from our life but we can be proactive in our fight against stress and depression. One of the holistic means is through defusing essential oils and applying essential oils(with a carrier oil), directly onto our skin. Essential oils can have a very powerful effect on our mood, emotions and behavior.

Here are just a few of the essential oils that help combat stress: Lavender, Peppermint, Rosemary, Melissa, Frankincense, Citrus Oils, Ylang Ylang and Chamomile.

La Cresta Skin Care offers several oil blends, both diluted and concentrated, that you can incorporate into your daily lives which can be used in the diffuser we offer on our site or by applying directly onto your body.

How to apply essential oils: You should dilute your essential oils with a carrier oil such as coconut oil, jojoba oil, olive oil, sweet almond oil, sesame seed oil etc… Apply to your flex points; elbows, ankles, wrists, neck, behind your ears, at the bottom of your feet or on your stomach. Or apply a small amount of the oils into the palms of your hands and cup over your nose and mouth; breathe in the aroma and relax. When using concentrated essential oils in your diffuser, fill your diffuser to the water line and then apply several drops of the oil(or combination of oils) into your diffuser and stay nearby your diffuser to get the maximum benefits.

We have the ‘Stress’ Blend(concentrate) and the pre-diluted ‘Calm Me Down blend’. As well as other oils for respiratory, memory boost, mental clarity and for uplifting ones spirit.
